“I am writing to you on behalf of ESquared, which is working as a partner within the European ‘Signing Banks’ project.
Signing Banks is an Erasmus+ funded Europe-wide project, which seeks to support full financial inclusion of the “unbanked” or “underbanked” amongst the d/Deaf community and enhance their potential in successfully being integrated into the financial and banking world as customers. The project hopes to improve accessible access to traditional and alternative banking services for all d/Deaf customers, including online payment services, in person financial transactions, and mobile banking.
The project will seek to develop training materials and specific guidelines promoting best practice amongst financial services providers, highlight examples of existing best practice in the financial sector, and provide advice on accessibility of services for d/Deaf customers and the agencies which support them. Initial research has uncovered a gap in provision, and we are now seeking to carry out some further research to ascertain the experiences and specific needs of d/Deaf customers.
As an organisation whose work may include support for d/Deaf people, I would appreciate if you could participate in this research. I am attaching a link to two surveys that we have designed. One which is to be completed by organisations who may have views on access to financial services to the d/Deaf community, and another which is to be completed by d/Deaf people themselves. We are hoping to capture both the issues that might need to be addressed to promote better inclusion, but also any awareness of good practice which we can spotlight in our case studies.
