“Hi all! My name is Mia Wallace, a 22-year-old Counselling Psychology student at Leeds Trinity University. As part of my final undergraduate year, I’ve chosen to focus my dissertation on the experiences of d/Deaf students. This topic is especially meaningful to me, as I’m a d/Deaf student myself with moderate to severe hearing loss in both ears ustilising hearing aids.
Navigating the education system as a d/Deaf student has been a challenging journey. I’ve worked incredibly hard to get where I am today, often facing barriers that make achieving an equal playing field to my hearing peers more difficult. These experiences have motivated me to explore the experiences of d/Deaf students in Higher Education through my research.
I’d love to hear from other d/Deaf students about their experiences. Your insights could make a real difference in this research and help highlight the changes needed for a more inclusive education system. If you’re interested in participating, please feel free to fill out the survey. I would greatly appreciate your input!
The participation poster has a clear inclusion criteria and there will be more information provided on the link before you fill out the survey. Thank you for your time!”
