We are looking for a highly motivated Senior Specialist Teacher to manage a team of specialist teachers with expertise in the sensory area of need (hearing support and multi-sensory impairment) to ensure the delivery of iSEND statutory services to children, young people and their families are effectively delivered.
You will be highly motivated to achieve the best possible outcomes for children and young people and enable everybody working with these pupils to understand the needs of pupils with a sensory impairment and to put in place the strategies which are needed to access the curriculum.
The role will involve:
Managing a team of specialist teachers to ensure the delivery of SEND statutory services to children, young people and their families are effectively delivered
Complying with statutory regulations in the assessment and review of Education, Health & Care Plans (EHC Plans) in accordance with the Children & Families Act 2014
Supporting the strategic development of the Specialist Teaching Service within the Integrated SEN Service.
Providing professional expertise and support to Senior iSEND Leaders and direction to the team of Specialist Teachers.
Promoting the inclusion of children with SEND through the organisation, development and monitoring of the Specialist Teaching function
Working with other iSEND leaders to ensure effective workplace planning and development, allocating resource where demand is greatest.
Ensuring there is a strong and effective culture of collaboration within the team and across the local area, including with colleagues in health, education and social care. Embed a culture of co-production and team working at all levels.
Allocating referrals and ensure equitable caseloads
Ensuring services provided are child centered and needs led and risks are effectively identified, managed and escalated as required.
Being responsible for managing the performance of the team to ensure that objectives and targets are met.
Providing induction, line management and support. Proactively develop professional knowledge, skills and behaviours and support others in their continuous professional development.
Taking responsibility and being accountable for a small caseload (age defined) as required across the geographical area, ensuring that any casework is undertaken in a professional manner and decisions are taken in a timely manner.
On-the-go:
Our ‘on-the-go’ roles mean you’ll usually start and finish your day from a base, moving around between different locations throughout the day. You won’t need a fixed desk to work from, but you’ll have access to our network where you can keep up to date with admin and the latest staff updates.
About you
Experience of working with children and young people with SEND and their families
Ability to develop plans for improvement and implement Quality Assurance processes
Ability to manage conflict and de-escalate issues
Ability to manage complex situations and complaints
Understanding of SEND thresholds
Educated to degree standard with QTS
Relevant teaching experience post NQT year
Holder of mandatory qualification for teachers of pupils with hearing impairment
A current driving license as the job involves travel for business purposes
