“The fifth instalment in the Hearpeers webinar series, held in partnership with MED-EL, will be hosted by Colin, a cochlear implant user, who wears the SONNET 2 audio processor, and his wife, Jane.
Colin’s hearing started to deteriorate in his thirties and he wore hearing aids until even the most powerful proved unsatisfactory. In 2013 he was referred to a cochlear implant centre in London, as his audiologist thought that he may be a suitable candidate. Colin was finally implanted to 2016, and began to hear sounds immediately, he has not looked back since. Colin will discuss his life prior to being implanted, how his confidence has grown after implantation, and how he finally feels confident to use the telephone!
We will also hear from Jane, Colin’s wife, who has supported Colin throughout his hearing journey, and how their life together as a couple has improved. Jane says “After his ‘switch on’ Colin heard immediately and his hearing gradually improved, with him hearing more and more sounds. It was truly amazing!”
Join Colin and Jane in this webinar as they discuss their experience of life prior to implantation, the operation, rehabilitation and getting their family life, hobbies, and everyday life back on track. This will be followed by a Q&A session.
