Free CPD day for teachers interested in Shakespeare, Drama and Deaf Education Signing Shakespeare: Macbeth

Royal Shakespear Company and University of Birmingham
10th July 2024
11:00am - 4:00pm

We hope you will find this work pack of activities for teaching Shakespeare useful. It offers a theatre-based scheme of work, specially designed for deaf young people and covers the whole of Macbeth. At the heart of the resources are a series of films of key moments from the play – in BSL, SSE and ‘Visual Shakespeare’ (which draws on the deaf performance language Visual Vernacular) – freely available from the online RSC Learning pages. These resources have been created by a team led by Dr Abigail Rokison-Woodall and Dr Tracy Irish, in consultation with deaf artists and students and with experts in deaf education.

To support you in using these resources, we are offering a free CPD day – including a complementary lunch – for teachers interested in deaf education and Shakespeare. This day will allow you to experience the work in practice, meet other teachers in your field and become part of our research community.
