See below details about a project on Deaf history from the Museum of London for Primary schools from Dr. Kate Loveman, Principal Investigator for ‘Reimagining the Restoration’, an AHRC-funded project on the reception of Samuel Pepys’s Diary.
The primary school resources for the Reimagining the Restoration project, on Deaf history and on the Great Fire, are now available online.
Deaf Londoners in the 1660s resources: www.museumoflondon.org.uk/schools/learning-resources/deaf-londoners-1660s (comic, teachers’ notes, images and classroom activities)
Great Fire of London learning resources: www.museumoflondon.org.uk/schools/learning-resources/great-fire-london (includes videos with BSL-interpretation; some of the figures from the comic can be seen in the animations)
And a page about the project, including workshops run with London schools for deaf children: www.museumoflondon.org.uk/schools/what-makes-us-special/reimagining-restoration
There will also be Teacher study days in June and July including one aimed at Teachers of the Deaf, on Deaf History and the Great Fire. That session is on Monday 10 July at 5.30pm at the Museum of London. For teachers who aren’t near London, there is also a live stream on the resources in June.
