Cochlear has announced that they have acquired Demant’s (the parent company of Oticon Medical) cochlear implant business. Hearing care company Demant has taken the decision to sell its cochlear implant business – and in doing so, believes it is in the best interest of patients to sell this business to Cochlear, the global leader in implantable hearing.
Cochlear’s CEO & President, Dig Howitt said, “We welcome Oticon Medical’s cochlear implant patients to Cochlear and remain committed to supporting their long-term hearing outcomes. Patients are our priority as we work closely with Demant/Oticon Medical to ensure a smooth transition.”
“We will support patients with continued access to repairs and replacements of current Oticon Medical cochlear implant technology for as long as feasible. At the same time, we will develop and commercialise next generation sound processors and services to enable the vast majority of patients to transition to Cochlear’s technology platform over time.”
“Driven by our mission to innovate and deliver a lifetime of hearing outcomes, we will seek to ensure that Oticon Medical’s cochlear implant customers continue to be supported with a lifetime of hearing solutions.”
