BEARS (Both Ears) – Can you help us make our research more inclusive?

Can you help us make our research more inclusive?

BEARS (Both Ears) is a clinical trial to find out if using Virtual Reality (VR) games at home helps children and young people with cochlear implants to hear better.

Some people may find it hard to take part in research, especially if they are from a minority community or feel excluded for other reasons. We want our research results to apply to everyone, so we want to make sure that the people who take part are similar to the population as a whole.

We are fortunate to have some additional funding to look at:

  • how diverse the children involved in BEARS are
  • how we can make our BEARS research more inclusive, and
  • make it easier for all families to take part.

We are doing focus groups or interviews with stakeholders to find out why families decide not to take part in BEARS, and how research could be more diverse in the future.

If you are a teacher who works with a child taking part in BEARS, we’d like to hear from you. For more information, please email [email protected]
