BATOD and BAEA joint conference

Technology in our hands: changing the world with deaf children and young people

Saturday 22 March 2025  – Call for contributions

The British Association of Teachers of Deaf Children and Young People (BATOD) and the British Association of Educational Audiologists (BAEA), with support from BATOD South West and BAEA South, invite all interested parties (teachers, professionals, lecturers, researchers, developers and manufacturers of technical devices, service providers, service users, policy makers, students etc) to present their work.

Technology is central to the lives of deaf children and young people, offering tools for extending participation in education, work and leisure.  This conference will allow those working in the field to share information and explore how deaf children’s future lives can be enhanced and extended by technology in its broadest terms.

Papers and presentations may consider areas such as:

1) innovations with technology hardware and software

2) Artificial intelligence

3) Apps for communication, participation and interaction

4) Gaming and online leisure or social activities

5) Technology for signed and spoken languages

6) Assistive listening technology

7) Accessibility for work and involvement in society
