WJEC – First wave of Made-for-Wales Guidance for Teacher (GFT)

WJEC announced that “Following the publication of our approved specifications and Sample Assessment Materials (SAMs) for the first wave of our Made-for-Wales GCSEs and related qualifications, and in line with the Qualifications Wales’ agreed timeline, we have now published the associated Guidance for Teaching (GFT). These will support teachers and lecturers in their preparation for first delivery from September 2025.”

Most of the information in the Guidance for Teaching is specific to subject teachers but Qualified Teachers of Deaf Children and Young People may value accessing an overview of any changes. For this first ‘wave’ the main impact on many deaf learners will be the increased focus on oracy in the new English Lit/Lang specification.
