Please see below message from the Children’s Committee of the Senedd
“The Children’s Committee of the Senedd are conducting an inquiry into the question; Do disabled children and young people have equal access to education and childcare?
To strengthen the evidence from people with lived experience, the Committee have decided to create an online advisory group to consult upon during the length of the inquiry (potentially until November 2024).
The group will include parents and carers of disabled children, and disabled young people who have recently left education (aged 18-25).
The group will aim to meet online four times. Each meeting will be roughly 2-3 hours with regular comfort breaks. Participants may also like to consider making some time to prepare before meetings.
There will be a limit to the number of participants so that everyone has a meaningful input during each meeting. To ensure the group are as representative as possible, the Committee will look to recruit members that cover all five Senedd Regions.
The Committee invite you to register your interest to take part in the group via an online survey. Complete this survey by clicking this link.
If you would like to take part:
- Complete this survey by no later than Monday 23 October.
- If you are selected to take part, you will be contacted by Thursday 26 October.
- The first meeting will be in the morning of Wednesday 8 November.
To read more about how your information will be used if you take part in the online advisory group, please refer to our privacy notice.
We expect that participants will share their lived experience when making contributions at meeting, but you will not be asked to share anything that you don’t feel comfortable with and sharing of these experiences will not be discouraged. However, we will ask participants to be mindful of sharing potentially triggering experiences and we will be encouraging the conversations to focus on discussing solutions to ensure a productive, focused meeting and to be mindful of the wellbeing of all the members of the group.”
