Relocation and re-naming of the Regional Cochlear Implant Centre, Northern Ireland

The Regional Cochlear Implant Centre ( NI) was established in 1991 and has been based at the Belfast City Hospital for 22 years. In January 2013 the service will move to a brand new building – Beech Hall Wellbeing & Treatment Centre, Andersonstown Road in Belfast which is easily accessible from the main motorways.

The new location offers state of the art hearing testing facilities, including two fully sound proofed rooms for free field sound testing and Visual Response Audiometry. The centre will also have a newly designed waiting area for children, as well as a Resource and Counselling room for Patients and Parents.

The name of the Service will change from Regional Cochlear Implant Centre to Auditory Implant Centre In order to reflect the new services being offered to patients who receive Bone Anchored Hearing Aids and Middle Ear Implants.
