NDCS publication – Literature review on self-determination

Posted in News

For information, NDCS has recently published a literature review on self-determination.

NDCS explain the “purpose of this review was to identify what research says about any interventions to promote self-determination skills in disabled young people.

https://www.ndcs.org.uk/media/6928/self_determination_literature_review_2021.pdf

Through the review, five particular interventions were identified:

  • Self-Determined Learning Model of Instruction
  • Whose Future Is It Anyway?
  • Self-Directed IEP
  • Self-Advocacy Strategy
  • NEXT STEP curriculum

We would be very interested in any feedback from colleagues who may have come across or used any of these interventions with deaf young people.

The self-determination literature review follows an NDCS literature review in 2019 on careers advice and support, which is available at: https://www.ndcs.org.uk/media/5268/careers_advice_and_support_ndcs_literature_review_2019.pdf”
