The National Deaf Children’s Society has updated and republished its advice note on specialist education services for deaf children. This note is intended for commissioners and sets out the importance of these services and outlines the legal considerations that will need to be taken into account if proposing or making any changes or cuts to services. I am sure that BATOD members will be interested in it.
Annex A includes some questions that the local authority commissioner may need to consider if proposing any changes to the role of the Teacher of the Deaf within the service.
[Update] The advice note is no longer available from the NDCS website.
NDCS hopes that the updated advice note is a useful complement to the NatSIP checklist for service alignment with legislation and guidance which can be found here here on the NatSIP website.
