Free AVUK Zoom Webinar – May 13th from 1.30pm – 2.30pm BST
We have added an extra date due to the popularity of our previous webinar.
For a number of years, AVUK has been delivering therapy sessions to families of preschool deaf children via a range of online platforms. Over the years we have noticed great benefits for families access their sessions via telepractice. This is echoed in research studies being carried out internationally whereby the delivery of family-centered early intervention via telepractice has equal benefits to that of intervention delivered in person by the therapist (Coufal, K. et. al., 2018; McCarthy, M. et. al., 2019, 2020).
During these times we are all reviewing the way we deliver our practices, whether we are Teachers of the Deaf, Speech and Language Therapists or audiologists. Some practitioners will have experience of delivering sessions through different online platforms, others will be considering starting out. As of the 16th March, AVUK has delivered close to 100 appointments via telepractice as all our family sessions have been moved online. We will be hosting a free webinar on how to get set up for telepractice and share some ideas and strategies you might find useful going forward. We are also keen to hear about what has worked for you, if you have been supporting families in this way.
The free webinar will cover the following:
- Tips for preparing for telepractice sessions
- Using the home environment
- Coaching vs explaining
- Extending the child’s attention in telepractice sessions
We’ll send the Zoom link on the 13th May so please check your emails. We recommend that you check your video and sound is working at least 10 minutes before the meeting.
