Postponement of the BATOD conference

Posted in News

Dear All

It is with regret that I inform you that BATOD has chosen to postpone the Researching the Future conference this Saturday. Following the Government decision to move to the ‘delay’ stage of the plan in relation to the Coronavirus pandemic, rather than wait for any further official guidance, we feel we cannot ask people to attend a large gathering in a school. The health and welfare of all attendees is upmost in our minds as well as Frank Barnes School for Deaf Children.

This statement is also available in BSL here: https://vimeo.com/397289269

I would like to thank everyone involved as we have prepared for Saturday. Thank you to all the presenters – key notes, presenters, workshop leads and poster presenters. Another date will be set to showcase your work.

Thank you to Dani Sive and the staff at Frank Barnes School for Deaf Children. We look forward to holding the conference there as soon as we are able to rearrange.

Also to the sponsors and exhibitors due to attend. Thank you for your support to BATOD. We hope to see you when we hold the conference. Teresa Quail will be in contact to arrange the return of your items.

Appreciation is also extended to the BSL interpreters and STTR Service for your preparations.

Thank you to the delegates for registering your attendance and commitment to continuing CPD. Your conference fee will hold over to the new date.

The Conference Committee who have all volunteered their time over the past year and in particular these last couple of months. Your work is truly appreciated.

This would have been one of the largest BATOD conferences with over 170 people in attendance. We will ensure the conference is rescheduled.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch with me at [email protected]

We have also cancelled the NEC meeting due to take place on Sunday.

Wishing you all health and best wishes
